Skanska Invests in a Climate-Neutral Office Project in Malmö, Sweden

Skanska invests about SEK 590 M in a climate neutral office project in Malmö, Sweden. The construction contract is worth about SEK 420 M, which will be included in the Swedish order bookings for the first quarter 2020.

The office building Hyllie Terrass comprises 12 storeys and will have a total leasable area of approximately 14,000 square meters. It will offer an optimal location close to public transportation, enabling companies to be able to act sustainably at all levels.

Hyllie Terrass is one of the projects that is part of the Sweden Green Building Council’s pilot study on ZeroCO2 certified buildings. The target of ZeroCO2 is to instigate building with a net-zero climate impact and to continue to develop the industry’s sustainability work. In addition to the ZeroCO2 certification, Hyllie Terrass will be environmentally certified according to LEED and health certified according to WELL.

Construction work will commence in the first quarter 2020 and the office building is slated for completion during the fourth quarter 2022.

Skanska has developed several large office projects in Malmö, including Klipporna, Malmö Live, STUDIO and this year the office buildings Epic and Aura are being completed, of which Aura was recently sold to Vasakronan.

Skanska is one of the leading development- and construction companies in the Nordics, with operations in building construction and civil engineering in Sweden, Norway and Finland, and developing residential- and commercial property projects in select home markets. The commercial development stream is also active in Denmark. Skanska had sales of about SEK 70 billion and more than 15,200 employees in its Nordic operations during 2019.
