Gail Farber joins HNTB as office leader in Orange County

Veteran transportation professional leads project delivery and continues to grow HNTB’s presence in Southern California


SANTA ANA, Calif. – Gail Farber, PE, has been named HNTB Corporation’s Orange County office leader and vice president, based in the firm’s Santa Ana office. Farber brings more than 35 years of transportation industry experience. She leads project delivery and the firm’s strategy to continue growing in Southern California.

“Gail brings a breadth of experience across the spectrum of public works. Her project expertise in transportation, water, waste management and buildings includes design, delivery, operation and maintenance across Los Angeles and Orange County,” said Wayne Feuerborn, HNTB West Division president. “Outstanding technical skills, combined with her proven leadership ability for multi-agency collaboration, will benefit our clients in the delivery of challenging and complex infrastructure projects.”

Farber formerly served as director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, one of the nation’s largest public works agencies. She was responsible for management, leadership and administration for all agency departments with over 4,000 full-time staff, including transportation, public buildings, water and waste resource management, emergency management and land development.

Gail Farber has experience as both an engineer and executive manager on a diverse range of projects in the public sector. Her portfolio includes Caltrans, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Orange County Transportation Authority and experience and projects for the independent cities of Orange and Pico Rivera.

Farber earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering at San Diego State University and is registered professional engineer in California.

Currently, HNTB is working with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority on the I-10 Corridor Project Phase 1 that provides approximately 10 miles of express lanes along the I-10 in each direction from the Los Angeles County line to the I-15; the I-405 Improvement Project for the Orange County Transportation Authority which adds the 405 Express Lanes, incorporating the existing carpool lanes and a new lane in each direction between SR-73 and I-605 to provide a faster travel option; and the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project Feasibility Study for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to build a fast, high-capacity transit line between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside through the Sepulveda Pass.
