WASHINGTON, D.C. – Cadasta Foundation is pleased to welcome Chuck Conley as its new Director of GIS and Technology. In this role, Chuck will serve as Cadasta’s technology solution lead and will work alongside senior leadership to lead, analyze, develop, and implement innovative technical strategies to document the land and resource rights of vulnerable communities.

Founded in 2015, Cadasta Foundation is a Washington, D.C. based nonprofit that develops and promotes the use of simple digital tools and technology to help partners efficiently document, analyze, store, and share critical land and resource rights information. By creating an accessible digital record of land, property, and resource rights, we help empower individuals, communities, organizations, governments, and businesses with the information they need to make data-driven decisions and put vulnerable communities and their needs on the map.

Chuck comes to Cadasta with more than 20 years of professional GIS technology experience. Prior to joining Cadasta, Chuck worked on projects that utilized geography, GIS technology, and sound information management practices across several humanitarian clusters and development sectors including mine action, health, search and rescue, needs assessment, operational coordination, physical security, environment, conservation, and food security to name a few.

“I have spent my entire career helping international nonprofit organizations explore how they can leverage data and technology to help advance their humanitarian and development objectives,” Chuck stated, “I am very excited to join Cadasta, this is a great opportunity to bring my skills and experience to a young and growing nonprofit organization that is having a positive impact in the development sector.”

Commenting on Chuck’s appointment, Cadasta CEO Amy Coughenour Betancourt said, “Chuck is a results-oriented leader with a proven record for leading and growing innovative technology operations. I am confident that with Chuck’s technical expertise and leadership, Cadasta will be able to deliver on our goal of documenting the land and resource rights of 8 million people worldwide by 2022.”

Reflecting on his new role at Cadasta, Chuck said “I am looking forward to working with Cadatsa’s partners to develop effective data and technology strategies and solutions that support making well informed data-driven decisions to best support the vulnerable communities they work with.”
