Alexa Mitchell Joins HDR as Highways & Roads BIM Director
OMAHA, Neb. — Continuing HDR’s national leadership in Building Information Modeling for infrastructure, Alexa Mitchell has been named HDR’s highways and roads BIM director. Mitchell will further bolster our capabilities as a trusted partner for our transportation clients, who are increasingly incorporating BIM into projects, including through the development of signed and sealed BIM deliverables.
Based in our Phoenix, Arizona, office, Mitchell will provide strategic support and specialized technical expertise for BIM-enabled project delivery. Working closely with design and construction inspection staff, she will help initiate BIM project processes throughout the project lifecycle to improve interdisciplinary coordination, proactively manage project risks, and optimize constructability. A background in both national-level research and state-level implementation means she can apply best practices and lessons learned from across the country to local projects.

Mitchell’s 20 years of experience includes work in both the public and private sectors, providing program management as well as research and policy development expertise. During her 16-plus years with the Missouri Department of Transportation, she led the agency through adoption of digital project delivery technologies. Mitchell’s proven project delivery skill and demonstrated history of working in the highway industry primed her to assist the Federal Highway Administration in the development of technical guidance documents and policies for BIM.
