Epiroc to Digitalize Pucobre’s Mining Operations in Chile

Stockholm, Sweden: Epiroc AB, a leading productivity partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has signed a collaboration agreement with Sociedad Punta del Cobre SA in Chile to digitalize the company’s mining operations, boosting productivity and safety.   

Epiroc is helping Sociedad Punta del Cobre, commonly known as Pucobre, to enhance its mining operations in the Atacama region in northern Chile. This collaboration includes defining new ways of working and new roles as well as development of an integrated information management system. Epiroc’s new 6th Sense Mine Management Solution will combine Pucobre’s existing systems with for instance Mobilaris scheduler and other task management and reporting features. The new solution is already visible in Pucobre’s newly established Control Tower.

The system can be connected to the customer’s existing machine fleet regardless of make or model. 6th Sense is Epiroc’s new way to optimize customers’ processes through automation, system integration and information management – enabling a smart, safe and seamless operation.

The collaboration extends the partnership between the companies. Pucobre’s Epiroc equipment includes Simba production drill rigs, Boomer face drilling rigs, and Scooptram and Minetruck underground loading and haulage vehicles. Epiroc also provides Pucobre with consumables and service.
