Bluefin Technology Partners Develops Fluent with Walchem
Worcester Tech Company Builds Remote Monitoring System for Water Testing Devices
Worcester, MA – Bluefin Technology Partners, one of Massachusetts’ most innovative digital product developers, today announced their partnership with the water treatment technology and equipment company, Walchem. Bluefin worked with Walchem to develop Fluent, a remote monitoring and reporting system which is fully synchronized with Walchem’s web based controllers, allowing for simple, fast and remote communications for all new and existing controllers.
Walchem, a subsidiary of Iwaki America Inc., is a leading manufacturer of online analytical instruments and electronic metering pumps located in Holliston, Massachusetts. By integrating controller, sensor, and pump technologies, Walchem creates innovative solutions for chemical control. Their integration of instruments, sensors and fluid handling has been improved upon by the addition of extensive remote data collection and processing technologies developed with Bluefin Technology Partners.
“Through our intensive discovery process and speaking to all internal and external stakeholders, we were able to get a complete sense of the market demand and Walchem’s needs,” said Jay Cahill, Co-Founder and General Partner of Bluefin Technology Partners. “This informed our development process as we worked to provide remote monitoring and control of their water testing devices that would deliver the information to every member of a building’s management team. As Walchem’s connected products work to ensure water safety, preventing such water-borne illnesses like Legionnaires’ disease, it was critical to make certain that water treatment service providers along with building managers and owners received this information when its is needed and that the raw data could be transformed into actionable insights provided in an easy to understand format.”
Walchem provides high quality equipment for cooling tower, boiler, potable water, and wastewater applications. Now, with Fluent, users will have the ability to view a summary of their account status, access the past twenty-four hours of minimum, maximum and average values, receive alarm alerts, connect to devices for full view and reconfiguration as well as analysis, troubleshooting and adjustments, and seamlessly organize devices, all remotely.
Bluefin Technology Partners’ deep experience building IoT products and systems that intersect with the physical and digital worlds was invaluable to the successful development of Fluent.
“Over the last five years, Walchem engineers have developed a new platform of water treatment controllers that provide extraordinary capabilities and outstanding value, but we lacked a thoroughly modern cloud-based customer interface and user experience,” said John Miersma, President and CEO of Iwaki America. “Over the last year, Walchem engineering addressed this challenge by combining their talents with the unique capabilities of the team at Bluefin Technology Partners to develop and launch Fluent, offering game-changing capabilities in customer and facilities management, including process monitoring and control, data management, alarms and team management. The Walchem and Bluefin effort was planned and managed effectively and efficiently. Our working relationship developed into a true strategic partnership.”
