Maqsood Energizes Power Business Line at Gannett Fleming

(Marlton, N.J.) Poised to deliver advanced energy solutions for evolving client needs, Qasir Maqsood, PE, PEng, joins Gannett Fleming as director of projects for the firm’s Power operations in the Northeast.

“During his 30-year career, Qasir has built a reputation for successfully supervising state-of-the-art substations and large electrical utility programs in the United States and Canada,” said George Campanella, PE, LEED AP, Facilities and Power Business Line director and senior vice president. “Gannett Fleming’s Power sector has experienced substantial growth, and Qasir’s leadership and skillset will be instrumental as we continue to address challenges such as aging infrastructure and renewable energy.”   

Maqsood’s vast international experience has enabled him to build and manage diverse teams while directing complex projects. He served as the senior project manager on the $377 million, 500 kilovolt (kV) high voltage direct current project in Alberta, Canada, the largest in North America at the time of its execution, guiding it to completion despite detrimental weather conditions and introduction of new technology. He also demonstrated his project and team management acumen on the implementations of the Madison Street Substation 69kV geographic information system in Hoboken, New Jersey, and Hopewell Substation 230/69kV automatic identification system in Hopewell, New Jersey, by addressing land obstacles and the critical need to meet strict milestone and design requirements. 

Maqsood is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and he received a commendation certificate from the Pakistan Water & Power Development Authority for meritorious performance. He earned a Bachelor of Electrical (Power Systems) Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, and a Master of Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
