Barry brings extensive executive leadership and program management experience with rail and bus transit as well as infrastructure asset management

Barry comes to HNTB with more than 40 years of transportation experience. Most recently she served as deputy commissioner for the Connecticut Department of Transportation, acting as that agency’s chief operating officer helping to improve and expand Connecticut’s intermodal system. There she helped deliver the CTfastrak bus rapid transit program, the Hartford Line high speed rail program and Walk Bridge program, among others.
Prior to joining CTDOT, Barry served as a leader at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for almost 25 years in a variety of management positions. Barry also served in operational roles for the Boston and Maine Railroad, and for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ joint legislative committee on transportation.
A graduate of Suffolk University Law School, Barry hold as J.D. degree and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar. She is a cum laude graduate of Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in English.
Barry is an active member of the Women’s Transportation Seminar, receiving honors from the Boston and Connecticut chapters. She is involved in the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, the American Public Transportation Association and the Transportation Research Board. She is chair of TRB’s Transit Research Analysis Committee, immediate past chair of APTA’s High Speed and Intercity Passenger Rail Committee and recently ended her service as at-large transit member of the APTA Board of Directors.
