Transportation Planner Sudhish Verma joins HNTB
OAKLAND, Calif. – Sudhish Verma joined HNTB Corporation as planning department manager for Northern California. He is based in the firm’s Oakland office and works on transportation projects focused on improving circulation and connectivity throughout the Bay Area and extended region.
Verma manages a team of eight professionals who deliver contracted projects and pursue other leads. Initially, his responsibilities center around the New Transbay Rail Crossing, Bay Area Rapid Transit’s General Environmental and Planning Services contract, and Caltrain planning projects.
“Sudhish is an outstanding addition to our Northern California team as he brings experience on long-range and strategic planning for California High Speed Rail, the Dumbarton Rail Corridor, BART to Silicon Valley extension, and the Presidio Parkway,” said Jeff Watson, PE, PMP, HNTB Northern California office leader and vice president. “His broad range of skills honed from prior work on rail, transit and highway projects is key for us as we compete for and deliver complex infrastructure projects.”
In his 15-year career as a transportation planner, Verma has managed teams to study corridors, plan multimodal projects, and apply for federal and state grants. He worked the past 12 years at another consulting firm and served on the transportation and land use committee of the San Mateo County Economic Development Association connecting local business and political leaders with transportation resources. He also has been a member of planning and transportation nonprofits SPUR and Women’s Transportation Seminar.
Verma began his career as an urban designer for land use projects in India after earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He received a Master of Urban Planning from Texas A&M University and worked in Dallas transit, traffic and parking projects before relocating to the Bay Area in 2007.
