Brown Appointed to AWWA Leadership Role

(Harrisburg, Pa.) – Michael Brown, PE, Gannett Fleming vice president and Water Business Line principal engineer, recently joined the board of directors of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) serving as director of the Pennsylvania Section of the AWWA.“I look up to and respect many water industry professionals who have had filled these positions before me and I am honored that I was voted in by my peers,” said Brown. “Over the next three years I look forward to representing the Pennsylvania Section of the AWWA and becoming the voice for the state in helping guide the policies and direction of the association as a member of the AWWA board of directors.”

Brown has more than 20 years of experience in water and wastewater project management and is a recognized thought leader throughout the industry. Recently he co-authored a Water Finance & Management cover story entitled “Aging Mains No Match for Strategic Asset Management” He also recently co-hosted a webinar for the national Water Asset Management Online Conference, discussing the successful multi-year water main replacement program in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He is a frequent presenter at local, regional, and international water industry events, and serves on multiple water industry technical committees.

As a member of the AWWA board of directors, Brown will assist with creating policy that impacts strategies, management, and the AWWA society. According to their website, “AWWA is an international, nonprofit, scientific and educational society dedicated to providing total water solutions assuring the effective management of water.”
