Jeff Watson Named HNTB Northern California Office Leader

OAKLAND, Calif. – Jeff Watson, PE, PMP, has been named HNTB Corporation’s Northern California office leader, based in the firm’s Oakland office. A vice president, Watson brings more than three decades of technical and leadership experience in the engineering field, including the last 15 years working in various positions of increasing responsibility and leadership with HNTB in the Eastern, Central and Western Regions. Most recently, Watson served as Northern California office operations manager, group director and client service leader.

As Northern California office leader, Watson leads more than 120 multidisciplinary transportation infrastructure and architecture professionals in the firm’s offices in San Joe, Oakland and San Francisco. Employees deliver aviation, toll, highway, transit, rail, planning, program/construction management, tunneling and other services to clients in this region.

“Jeff brings a demonstrated track record of success with many of HNTB’s key clients and most visible projects. His broad experience in infrastructure includes leading multidisciplinary and multi-firm teams to deliver the most complex infrastructure projects in the region,” said John Friel, PE, HNTB Western Region president. “His leadership skills, combined with deep working knowledge of the communities we serve, are tremendous assets to HNTB clients.”

Watson joined HNTB in 2004 as a project manager. He has led projects for a wide range of clients, including state departments of transportation, regional mobility authorities, port authorities, counties and cities. He has served the firm in several roles of increasing responsibility, including transportation department manager, operations manager and group director. He has served as Northern California operations manager since 2013.

Watson earned a Bachelor of Science in civil and construction engineering technology from Temple University. He currently sits on the California Transportation Foundation’s board of directors where he serves on committees for CTF’s Annual Education Symposium, Transportation Awards, and Injured and Fallen Workers Fund. He is a registered Professional Engineer in three states and a Project Management Professional.
