Chattanooga, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2019) – For 50 years the paving industry has relied on PETROMAT® as the most trusted asphalt paving fabric in the market. This week Propex GeoSolutions launched PETROMAT® Enviro, a patent pending technology that is engineered to easily mill into small pieces and be recycled into new asphalt pavement.

“Recently, the millability of typical paving fabrics has come into question,” said Mike Gorey, President and CEO of Propex Operating Company “To address this, we engineered an interlayer solution that easily mills to eliminate reprocessing concerns.”

Tests comparing Enviro with a standard M288 Type II paving fabric found Enviro millings to be up to 90% smaller than milled pieces from the M288 fabric.  This allows the product to easily pass through reprocessing screens without clogging or slowing down production.

“It’s environmentally safe, it can go through the plants and it can burn right back into the asphalt for the recycled asphalt pavement (RAP), said Tom Schmidt, Executive VP, ANRAK Corporation. “It’s absolutely incredible.”

Additionally, Enviro provides an unmatched pavement moisture barrier for roads while absorbing stress to retard the development of fatigue and reflective cracking in asphalt pavement.  It is used beneath asphalt concrete overlays, within new asphalt concrete pavements and beneath chip seal surface treatments.

Another feature that separates Enviro from competitors is that it can be placed directly onto a milled surface without use of a leveling course, and it is easier to install. To learn more about Enviro’s features and benefits, visit PropexGlobal.com/PetromatEnviro.
