Stantec Welcomes Experienced Practitioners to Gulf Water Group

Tampa, FL – NYSE, TSX: STN – Stantec has welcomed three strategic hires amidst ongoing growth in the Gulf region. The addition of Water experts in Stantec’s Tampa, Sarasota, and Jacksonville offices brings a collective 80 years of industry expertise to the team.

New hires in the Gulf include:

 

  • Tina Nixon, PE, BCEE, Associate, Senior Civil Engineer – Nixon joins the Tampa office with 28 years of extensive design, management, construction and commissioning experience in civil, mechanical, and environmental engineering. She has considerable experience in many types of pumping system projects, responsible for the process mechanical design of several large flood control pumping facilities, reuse/reclaimed water facilities, odor control systems, solid waste facilities, biosolids projects, and sewer rehabilitation efforts throughout the US. She has worked with multiple municipalities across the country, federal clients such as the United States Army Corps of Engineers, water management districts such as SFWMD, SWFWMD and Tampa Bay Water, and international clients. Her capabilities also include conceptualization, management, and development of computer hydraulic models and analysis of sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs), water distribution, and reclaimed water transmission. Nixon holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Civil Engineering, both from the University of South Florida.
  • Bruce A. Mowry, PhD., PE, Senior Civil Engineer – Mowry joins Stantec’s Jacksonville office with 40 years of experience in program management, operations and management of public water agencies/cities, water code implementation, groundwater replenishment, seawater intrusion, and management of financial policies for organizations internationally and in the US. His experience also includes all aspects of public agency operations and management including budgeting, staff management, public outreach, feasibility studies, all phases of design, construction supervision, and implementation of capital improvement programs. Mowry has also supported the development of regional programs to address climate change impacts. He earned his Ph.D. and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Mississippi State University, along with a bachelor’s in biological engineering from the same university.
  • Richard E. Cowles, PG, Senior Hydrogeologist – Joining Stantec’s Sarasota office, Cowles brings over 25 years of project management experience across a range of environmental and construction projects. He has designed and installed numerous production wells for drinking water supply, groundwater recovery, water quality issues, and gradient control. He has also conducted aquifer testing to evaluate well efficiency and well field yield, as well as determine recovery well capture zone and aquifer coefficients. Cowles also utilizes electromagnetic conductance (EM) and resistivity geophysical methods to identify new well field sites and determine the limits of waste placement and areas of leachate generation and migration at landfills. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in geology from Mount Union College, along with a master’s in hydrogeology and geophysics from Wright State University.
