There is a quiet autonomous vehicle revolution happening at large shopping centers and entertainment complexes, hospitals and college campuses across the country and around the world. A wide range of pedestrians are today being ferried from place to place by a growing fleet of slow moving, electric, autonomous, shuttles. In January, thousands of participants at the Transportation Research Board meeting in Washington, D.C., got to experience their first ever ride in an autonomous vehicle. French company Navya, sponsored the demonstration. Its vehicle is not equipped with a steering wheel or pedals. Its shuttle uses high tech sensors to dictate and monitor everything around it, to avoid collisions and stay on course no matter the time of day or the weather. Watch this video and come along for the ride as AASHTO Transportation TV introduces you to the autonomous shuttle revolution.
