Awair Secures Coveted RESET™ Accreditation for Omni Air Quality Monitor

SAN FRANCISCO  – Awair, the creators of intelligent air quality monitoring solutions, announced that RESET™, the world’s first sensor-based and performance-driven building standard and certification program, has officially certified the Awair Omni air quality monitor as one of its Accredited Grade B monitors. With this certification, Awair Omni is now one of the few air quality that monitors that building professionals can use to achieve the coveted green building standard for their properties.

The RESET™ building certification program has emerged as an increasingly prominent and prestigious standard in the green building space in recent years. Compared to traditional certification programs, RESET™ prioritizes on-going results and long-term occupant health instead of one-time tests and costly data submission procedures. RESET™ also offers added flexibility, allowing building professionals to define their space type based on what the project is being used for and how it affects occupants’ health.

With Awair Omni, building developers can use Omni to submit air quality data to achieve RESET™’s Air for Commercial Interiors Certification and get their facilities on track for providing a healthy environment by means of air quality monitoring.

Awair Omni

Awair Omni is an enterprise solution for tracking indoor air quality for facilities of all types. Omni features enterprise-grade sensors that track the key factors of air quality (Temperature, Humidity, CO2, Chemicals, and Fine Dust) and provides actionable insights that allow building managers to create healthy, productive environments for their facilities.

Omni’s business dashboard allows for the management of hundreds to thousands of individual Omnis in a facility. The dashboard provides analytics of both the building’s overall air quality as well as individual rooms’. Data history can be easily accessed and exported, which is especially helpful for achieving RESET™ certification.

Awair Omni helps building managers track the following key metrics for optimal air quality necessary for RESET™ Certification:

PM2.5 (Fine Dust)
Exposure to particulate matter can lead to significant health effects–especially small particulate matter, classified as PM2.5, can penetrate the lungs, be absorbed in the bloodstream and lead to heart disease and other cardiovascular complications.

To ensure that building occupants are being exposed to safe levels of PM2.5, RESET™ requires that indoor fine dust levels do not exceed 35 μg/m3. RESET™ also has what are referred to as “High Performance” targets, which are available for projects wishing to have more rigorous IAQ goals or for projects located in areas where ambient outdoor air quality levels typically stay within recommended health limits. The High Performance target for PM2.5 is 12 μg/m3

Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs)
Building materials, carpets, furniture, fabrics, cleaning products, adhesives, solvents, and other common everyday items are known to emit volatile organic compounds, known as TVOCs. Prolonged exposure to TVOCs has been linked to eczema flare-ups, hives, allergies, leukemia, and damage to the kidneys, liver, and central nervous system. TVOC levels must be monitored constantly to protect occupant health. RESET™ sets target levels for TVOCs at any quantity below 1,000 ppm, and the High Performance range below 600 ppm.

Carbon Dioxide

High indoor concentrations of CO2 have been known to cause drowsiness, dizziness, and cognitive dysfunction and can be indicative of indicative of poor building ventilation. RESET™ sets a Carbon Dioxide maximum limit at 500 μg/m3. Projects striving for a High Performance certification should not let CO2 levels exceed 400 μg/m3.

Temperature and Relative Humidity

The temperature and relative humidity of a space can have an impact on the sensor readings for PM2.5 and TVOC levels. Although no specific targets are in place, the RESET™ Air for Commercial Interiors Certification requires continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity levels of a project.
