Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center was recognised at this year’s Building Better Healthcare Awards where it won Best International Design. The Building Better Healthcare Awards are held each year in London to celebrate innovation and improvement in the design of healthcare environments.

The judges said: “It is a serious and reassuring building appropriate for high quality patient care. Inside it’s lovely: the interiors are clean and bright and rationally organised.”

Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center was designed by William Rawn Associates and Stantec Architecture. The new seven-storey facility consolidates cancer treatment and administrative space under one roof. Its pioneering design pairs multi-disciplinary teams with multi-disciplinary disease programmes. It brings together distinct yet related departments into one building to create a multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care which also promotes a ‘patients first’ ethos.

Catherine Zeliotis, Healthcare Leader at Stantec and Clinical Design Lead for the project, says: “We worked hard with the client to provide a seamless, personalised experience for patients in a building bathed in light with an intuitive wayfinding system. It is exciting to see these efforts recognised by Building Better Healthcare—it spurs us on to further innovation in our future projects.”
