ARLINGTON, Va. – Chinook Systems, Inc. (Chinook), a facilities engineering and commissioning services firm, announced today the addition of Patrick Troppe to its executive staff. Troppe will lead product management activities related to Quicx™, Chinook’s software platform for commissioning agents, facility managers, AEC firms and commercial real estate owners. The appointment comes in response to the increased demand for Commissioning Software, Facility Documentation and Project Delivery tools for real estate facilities and infrastructure.

“IoT-enabled Smart Building Systems, Building Commissioning for energy efficiency and full lifecycle Facility Management is now the expectation, rather than the exception,” said Chinook President Wanda Lenkewich. “In turn, property owners in government and private business alike are wanting to use Quicx to improve data flow between their many technology platforms and control systems. We needed a technology product management veteran like Pat to help us incorporate these innovations into our product development roadmap and expand into new customer segments.”

Troppe’s product management role encompasses conceptualization and development of new software functionality, developing and fostering strategic alliances, and prioritizing initiatives on behalf of targeted customer segments. Troppe comes to Chinook with more than 25 years of technology product management experience, including tenure with CoStar Group and CoreLogic—two of the real estate industry’s most prominent digital platform and data service providers.

“Quicx has an impressive track record,” said Troppe. “In addition to our flagship Pentagon implementation, Quicx has supported hospital systems, universities, hotels, data centers, and even NASA launch pads—organizations where it is nearly impossible to separate the facility from the customer experience and value delivered. That breadth of coverage, the depth of building automation system experience, and collaborative industry relationships all combine to give Quicx a unique position in the Facilities Engineering Technology field. I am thrilled to contribute to the exciting future we have in store for Quicx.”

Historically, Quicx began as a way for Commissioning Agents to build a library of building equipment test procedures (functional performance tests) and track test results as a facility progressed through construction. As Quicx was utilized on larger and more complex projects, document management and team collaboration tools were added to create reference points back to Specifications and Drawings while affording an opportunity to use the Quicx project portal to manage and discuss Changes, RFIs and Construction Punch List items. The facility data compiled through that process is valuable for facilitating a smooth asset handover at Construction Closeout and for the facility manager establishing Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and facility documentation. The value of that facility data fed from Quicx on an ongoing basis also has continued to grow with adoption of BIM (Building Information Modeling) 3D rendering and the advent of Virtual Reality technologies for architecture and engineering.

“Collaboration and interoperability have been hallmarks of our successes at Chinook and Quicx. ROI improves when technology includes APIs which promote digital interaction over silos and business processes that design data flows with a full lifecycle perspective,” continued Lenkewich. “Quicx, in tandem with Chinook and our industry partners, delivers on that vision to assist individuals responsible for Facilities Management, Critical Infrastructure and Operational Technology.”
