CLEVELAND, OH —  Wesley Weir has been named vice president and manager of the central region bridge inspection technical excellence center in the Cleveland office of WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consulting firm specializing in transportation and infrastructure.

With nearly three decades of experience, Weir brings a wealth of experience as a project manager, senior structural engineer and resident engineer on specialized bridge inspection, rehabilitation and design projects. Weir will manage WSP’s central region bridge inspection practice by managing staff, delivering projects and supporting our clients throughout the region.

“Wes is a recognized authority in inspection safety, inspection vehicles, rigging systems and technical climbing techniques,” said Barb Arens, central region business manager. “He is a national expert in the design, rehabilitation, inspection and load rating of bridges, including accessing complex, high-level bridges, confined space inspections and movable bridge inspections.”

“We are excited to have a champion in bridges and inspection services like Wes join the WSP Team. He will help us continue to build our bridge offerings, grow our team and serve our clients both locally and nationally,” said Michael Mangione, national market leader for Highways and Bridges

Weir is a registered professional engineer in 13 states and has multiple technical certifications including SPRAT and NBIS credentials. Weir earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Ohio Northern University.

WSP’s dedicated bridge inspection teams have carried out more than 70,000 operations and its bridge inspection program conducts more than 2,000 bridge inspections annually. The firm’s inspection reports provide bridge owners with the data and recommendations critical to planning both routine bridge maintenance and immediate repairs, while facilitating the long-term planning for rehabilitation or replacement. For the Blatnik Bridge Management Study, WSP identified the investments necessary to enable the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to efficiently and effectively maintain the structure.
