For the second year in a row, AAA has conducted a national survey to determine if Americans are ready to ride in self-driving vehicles. In this video, we take a look at Autonomous Vehicle Acceptance—by the numbers—sharing with you AAA’s 2018 findings.

AAA breaks down its survey results into various groups of drivers including males and females, millennials and baby-boomers. Each group is asked if they are afraid to ride in a fully self-driving car.

AAA says this year’s findings show driver fears of autonomous vehicles appear to be easing. AAA also found that a majority of U.S. drivers report high confidence in their own driving abilities—despite the fact that more than 90 percent of motor vehicle crashes are the result of human error.

AAA says its report points to a need for automakers to prioritize consumer education to help Americans better prepare for the shift to autonomous vehicles. Find out more about the survey results in this video: Autonomous Acceptance by the Numbers, a presentation of AASHTO Transportation TV.
