Stantec Selected as Program Manager for the I-4 Beyond the Ultimate Corridor for FDOT District 5

Orlando, FL, NYSE, TSX:STN: Global consulting firm Stantec has been selected by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5 to assist the Department in the technical oversight and management for segments of the Interstate 4(I-4) Beyond the Ultimate (BtU). The $20 million contract entails work from I-4 at U.S. Highway 27 in Polk County to State Road 472 in Volusia County. Specific projects could include adding Express Lanes and C-D systems, interchange improvements, and multimodal arterial operations to create a signature corridor through Central Florida.  

 

The program team will first review design concepts for the southern sections of the I-4 BtU to identify opportunities to reduce risk and project costs while maintaining quality and corridor performance. For the south and northern segment projects, the team may focus on the following areas:

  • Project segmentation
  • Project phasing
  • Toll facility coordination
  • Master signing plan
  • Design concepts
  • Design Build RFP packaging
  • Cost estimate reviews
  • Utility and Federal/State Agency coordination
  • Traffic and revenue
  • Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) analysis
  • Aesthetics

 

The Stantec Lead Team has in-depth knowledge of the I-4 Corridor through previous work on the I-4 BtU South and North Section PD&E studies, the on-going segmentation analyses, and as Owner’s Representative on the I-4 Ultimate. The Stantec Team brings the technical skills, corridor knowledge, understanding of project history, key relationships, innovative approaches, program management experience, and proven commitment to service and responsiveness needed to deliver a quality project and successfully serve District 5. Stantec’s team brings a wealth of national experience in Alternative Project Delivery having represented both the construction industry and state DOT’s including Florida. Most recently, Stantec has served in similar supporting roles in assisting Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise with design build improvements along the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike (HEFT) as well as FDOT District 4 with the 95 Express Lanes system in Broward County.
