AUSTIN – Wade Benton, PE, has rejoined HNTB Corporation as senior project manager and associate vice president, based in the firm’s Austin office. Benton’s work will focus on the firm’s general engineering consultant contract for the Hays County Road Bond Program.

Benton has nearly 25 years of experience developing and delivering large municipal transportation, utility, drainage and other infrastructure projects in Texas. Throughout his career, he has served on projects for Capital Metro in Austin, the Texas Department of Transportation, Bexar County, VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio and other regional clients.

“Wade has proven capabilities in project and quality management, planning, design and procurement services for complex municipal and transportation projects,” said Michelle Dippel, HNTB Central and South Texas office leader and vice president. “His extensive experience in the region is a valuable resource as HNTB collaborates with Hays County and its partner, the Texas Department of Transportation.”

Benton previously worked at HNTB from 2006-2016, most recently as department manager. During this tenure, he served on a wide range of complex projects in Texas, including the I-35 General Engineering Consultant contract for TxDOT in Hays, Travis and Williamson counties; Galm Road widening and reconstruction in Bexar County; VIA Metropolitan Transit’s U.S. 281 Stone Oak Park & Ride facility; and Jones Maltsberger Road corridor in San Antonio.

Benton is a board member of the Texas chapter of the American Public Works Association, and served as chapter president in 2017. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

In Central and South Texas, HNTB currently is working on, or has been involved with, some of the region’s most significant infrastructure projects, including serving as both general planning consultant and general engineering consultant for Capital Metro in Austin; planning consultant for TxDOT Transportation Planning and Programming Division; General Engineering Consultant for TxDOT Project Finance, Debt and Strategic Contracts Division in San Antonio; and construction engineering and inspection services for the U.S. 281/Loop 1604 Interchange in San Antonio.
