Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) Deputy Executive Director and Chief Engineer James Williams of Brandon was recently honored by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) at its annual meeting in Phoenix, Ariz.

Williams received the 25-Year Award of Meritorious Service. Each year, AASHTO honors transportation employees who have accrued 25 years of service with one or more AASHTO member departments and attained the grade of district engineer, assistant central office division head, bureau chief or higher. The official rules governing the award were first established in 1946 and are still in effect today.
