Ronda Wang has joined Houston’s architecture studio as the managing principal. Her responsibilities include growing the existing Houston team and building stronger connections in the Texas regional market. She aims to continue the Houston studio’s growth in the healthcare and education| science|tech market sectors, while seeking new opportunities in the civic and workplace sectors. Prior to joining HDR, Wang most recently was a senior project manager at FKP|CannonDesign.

Wang’s experience as both project architect and project manager includes building teams that afford all members—from clients to architects, engineers and contractors—the opportunity to meet a project’s overarching goals, while also satisfying individual goals in a collaborative environment.

Wang has served on local, regional and national AIA boards, in addition to chairing the Texas Society of Architects’ annual convention. She was also the Intern Development Program’s chair and an intern/associate member of the Texas Society of Architects during the conversion of the Architect Registration Examination from a written to a computerized form. She is currently expanding upon her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification obtained from the University of Houston through collaborative opportunities in the design and construction industries. She holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Texas-Austin with a focus on healthcare design.

Wang said she is excited about HDR’s robust network of national and international resources that contribute to a healthy and well-designed built environment. “Architects create spaces that frame an individual’s experience and generate memories, so it’s paramount to understand the user’s perspective and offer ways to enhance that expectation.”

“Ronda brings energy, heart, passion, leadership, mentorship and deep experience to HDR,” said Rick Harris, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, East region director of architecture, vice president. “She is a proven leader who will strengthen and grow our studio. We are excited to have her on board as we look forward to continued expansion and success in Houston.”

You can connect with Wang by email or on LinkedIn.
