AASHTO said it is taking nominations through April 4 for candidates to participate in its annual National Transportation Leadership Institute, a two-week management training program for transportation department officials held at the Indiana Historical Society Conference Center in Indianapolis.

The graduate-level program is sponsored by AASHTO and offered by the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis School of Public and Environmental Affairs’ Executive Education Program. It is conducted in offices adjacent to the campus.

This year’s program will be June 10-22 under the direction of NTLI director Thomas DeCoster, the former director of the university’s Executive Education Program. Organizers said the institute is limited to 50 attendees, and that those interested should apply early. Final selections will be made April 6 if there are any remaining spaces by then.

Here is the full application packet, with details on requirements and costs.

AASHTO said the institute is designed to supplement engineering expertise with leadership and management techniques oriented to highway and transportation department operations. Curriculum information is available here.

Eligible participants are those ranked as middle managers and higher, with at least 10 years’ experience in an AASHTO member state department of transportation or associated agency or one of the agency’s principal administrative officers.
