(Harrisburg, Pa.): The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) recently recognized the GeoDecisions-designed Maintenance-IQ application as a Distinguished System as part of the association’s Exemplary Systems in Government (ESIG) awards.GeoDecisions developed Maintenance-IQ for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), enabling the department to use geographic information system (GIS) mapping to plan and schedule maintenance activities for the 40,000 miles of roads and the 25,000 bridges under its purview.

“As the owner, we appreciate the hard work and dedication of GeoDecisions’ Maintenance-IQ project team located at our Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, headquarters,” said PennDOT’s Maintenance System and Reporting Section Chief Shawn P. Crane in the award application letter. “From application design, development, and implementation to hands-on PennDOT user training throughout the state, GeoDecisions’ level of services was exemplary.”

Dynamic and flexible by design, Maintenance-IQ is based on the Esri^® technology platform and is configurable for future PennDOT enterprise GIS enhancements.

“This system serves as a model for state departments of transportation looking to increase efficiency and decrease costs,” said Nate Reck, GeoDecisions’ director of government solutions. “Maintenance-IQ helps eliminate rework, keeps assignments – like road surface improvements – on cycle, and enables PennDOT to deliver data and maps faster.”

URISA’s ESIG awards recognize extraordinary achievements in the use of geospatial information technology that have improved the delivery and quality of government services.
