3D Laser Mapping Opens New R&D Facility
Laser scanning specialist 3D Laser Mapping has opened a new state of the art research and development centre strategically located close to their global headquarters in Nottingham, UK. The new facility will be headed by 3D Laser Mapping founder Dr Graham Hunter and will house a dedicated research and development team. Focussing on new product development and research into laser scanning solutions across a range of markets the centre will be staffed by a combination of existing and newly recruited personnel.
“This new facility will play a key role in our strategy for development of existing products, such as the market leading mobile mapping system StreetMapper and our mine monitoring system SiteMonitor, as well as new laser scanning solutions such as the handheld mobile mapping system Zeb1,” commented 3D Laser Mapping’s Executive Chairman Dr Graham Hunter. “By locating close to our global headquarters we can leverage our existing skills base while attracting new resources from industry, academia and partner organisations.”
As well as being staffed by experienced laser scanning engineers the new centre will be equipped with the latest equipment to facilitate product design, development and testing. Tools will include the latest in terrestrial laser scanning hardware, positioning technologies and software development systems. Testing facilities will include state of the art simulation technologies and software and the centre will house a dedicated training suite.
