WASHINGTONNational Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners Executive Director Greg White issued the following statement after the White House nominated NARUC President Robert F. Powelson of Pennsylvania to become a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission:

“On behalf of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and its members, I am pleased to congratulate President Robert Powelson on his nomination to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. President Powelson has served his Commission, his state and NARUC’s members with intelligence, dedication and constructive leadership. As a member of NARUC since 2008, President Powelson immersed himself thoroughly in the Association through active engagement in committees, panel discussions and mentoring other commissioners and staff.

“If confirmed, our loss of a collegial, gracious friend and regulator will be FERC’s gain. As president, he led one of NARUC’s most well-attended meetings in recent years and quickly established himself as an effective leader. His nomination speaks to the competence and depth of knowledge of our state commissioners and the value they bring to national policy.

“We stand ready to continue to work with members of FERC to serve the public interest through efficient energy regulation.”
