Broomfield, CO – Renewable Energy Systems (RES), a leader in energy storage integration, is pleased to announce an agreement with San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), an investor-owned utility in California, to build a 30 MW/120 MWh RESolve® Energy Storage System (ESS). The system will be located in Miramar, a community of San Diego, California.

RES’ agreement with SDG&E provides engineering, procurement and construction services, along with a 20-year “full wrap” asset management and performance guarantee powered by the RESolve® Energy Management System. SDG&E is awaiting approval for the project from the  California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and anticipates construction beginning within the next 18 months.

The project will employ RES’ proprietary RESolve® Energy Management System technology and will be sufficient to power the equivalent of approximately 20,000 US homes for four hours upon operation. Instead of container-based layouts spread over several large areas, the RESolve® facility is designed to fit within a single building, with the entirety of the plant fitting in roughly the space of one acre.

“This project will have a great impact for SDG&E and its customers,” says RES’ CTO, Dr. Andrew Oliver. “The RESolve® ESS provides safe, reliable, and economic solutions for the utility and its customers.”

Currently, RES’ contracted energy storage portfolio exceeds 175MW and 210MWh.
