San Francisco, CA, NYSE, TSX:STN: Scott Oppelt has joined Stantec’s San Francisco office as a senior project manager and principal in the firm’s Environmental Services practice. He has more than 22 years of experience permitting complex utility projects, mostly in Northern California.

Oppelt will lead environmental permitting business development and project delivery efforts focused on utility clients. He has managed the permitting and environmental compliance for utility and infrastructure projects through construction, including high-voltage transmission lines, gas and liquid pipelines, and major water infrastructure projects.

Oppelt’s experience includes serving as the regional environmental manager during construction of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Water System Improvement Program, a $4.8 billion, multi-year capital program to upgrade the SFPUC’s regional and local water systems.

“We are excited to have someone with Scott’s extensive experience join our growing environmental services team in Northern California,” says Rusty Benkosky, Stantec managing principal and leader of the environmental services practice. “His local and national experience on utility projects blends perfectly with what our clients need right now.”

Oppelt is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and a Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD). He has a bachelor’s degree in integrative biology from University of California, Berkeley. Oppelt is a Lafayette resident.
