SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 6, 2017—Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today that Loudoun Water has selected the Trimble® Unity™ software suite of GIS and GPS-based cloud and mobile applications for its utility field operations.

Located in Northern Virginia near Washington, D.C., Loudoun Water provides drinking water and wastewater services to more than 70,000 households in one of the nation’s fastest-growing counties. Loudoun Water maintains over 1,200 miles of water distribution pipelines, over 900 miles of wastewater collection system pipelines and a growing reclaimed non-potable water system. To keep pace with growing demands, Loudoun Water decided to improve its process for handling asset maintenance and field service work orders.

Loudoun Water determined that Trimble Unity’s multi-platform approach was the right solution to solve its immediate need for improving field team operations and mobile work management. “Trimble Unity met our requirements for an offline, paperless work order management solution that can tie directly to our existing SAP ERP and Esri systems,” said Tom Frederick, deputy general manager of Loudoun Water. “By combining multiple paper operations into one fully digital process, Trimble Unity eliminates duplicate data entry and reduces the potential for errors in data management while leveraging the investment in our GIS.”

Loudoun Water field workers can use Trimble Unity’s GIS-centric approach to efficiently locate and navigate to assets, reducing drive time and improving field efficiency.

“Trimble Unity enables utilities to quickly configure and deploy mobile GIS and work management software to solve real problems in the field while preserving investment in existing assets and workflows. We look forward to supporting Loudoun Water and its continued success,” said Marcus McCarthy, general manager of Trimble’s Water Division.

Trimble worked with Vesta Partners, a consultant in SAP® enterprise asset management solutions, to design and build interfaces between SAP ERP and Trimble Unity’s software, which will provide the necessary flow of information to Loudoun Water. This will enable the utility to:  create and complete SAP ERP work orders in the field; view live asset inventory and maintenance records on a geospatially-accurate moving map; receive GPS assisted routing of work orders, driving directions and asset navigation; and work offline in no-cell-service areas and sync automatically when back online. These easy-to-use tools are designed to improve efficiency, reduce windshield time and enable field crews to complete work with one trip to the job site.

Trimble Unity software is available from Trimble’s Water Division and its authorized distribution partners. For additional information on Trimble Unity, visit:  www.trimblewater.com/unity.html.
