DENVER – The Trinidad, Colorado, City Council approved a 5-year contract with CH2M to manage the city’s 18-year-old wastewater treatment plant. The Trinidad city council recognized a need for help maintaining and operating the facility’s quickly-aging equipment and assets. Officials selected CH2M based on significant qualifications to deliver the work, and a legacy of technical excellence in the region.

“CH2M will bring industry expertise and knowledge to the city,” said Mayor Phil Rico. “In addition, the wastewater treatment plant will receive much needed care and maintenance, while being operated efficiently and cost effectively.”

CH2M will provide operations and management services at the 2-million-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment plant, serving more than 3,250 urban homes within city limits and many rural areas of the Purgatoire River Basin and easterly to central Las Animas County.

“Trinidad has the opportunity to realize cost savings by instituting our firm’s best practices, employee training, tools and resources that we’ve used in other municipal plants across the U.S. and in the region,” said OM Services Senior Vice President and Managing Director Steve Meininger.

CH2M has a strong presence in the New Mexico and Colorado regions when it comes to wastewater and operations management. In New Mexico, CH2M has been the long-time provider of OM Services to the cities of Grants, Rio Rancho, Las Campanas and Farmington. In Centennial, Colorado, CH2M provides public works services to more than 106,000 residents, delivering a broad range of services from traffic engineering to snow removal.
