CH2M is proud to join thousands of engineers, students and teachers to celebrate the 66th National Engineers Week, February 19 to 25, 2017.

Engineers Week aims to ensure a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing the understanding of and interest in engineering careers and by promoting pre-college literacy in math and science.

“Going all the way back to our founding by four passionate problem-solvers, we’ve harnessed the power of engineering ingenuity, working side-by-side with our clients to lay the foundation for human progress,” said CH2M State and Local Governments President Greg McIntyre. “Every project we take on is an opportunity to promote STEM and inspire the next generation of engineers to dream big, and we think that’s an incredible privilege.”

At CH2M, dreaming big starts with a desire to improve the communities where we work, live and play. Just ask Dr. Menzer Pehlivan, geotechnical engineer at CH2M and one of the stars of McGillivray Freeman’s new film, “Dream Big: Engineering Our World,” sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

“I love solving real-time challenges and being involved with the projects I know are helping the community,” Pehlivan shares. “Whether it’s a wet-weather treatment station or an earthquake-resilient structure, as engineers our work helps make people’s lives better every day, and it’s very satisfying.”

CH2M is involved in STEM education and other activities making a difference in people’s lives around the world, including:

  • Building seven footbridges with Bridges to Prosperity, providing safe passage across dangerous rivers and enabling medical and economic access in Panama, Nicaragua, Rwanda, the Philippines and East Timor.
  • Backing the Metro Denver’s Girls Inc. Eureka! STEM program for middle and high school girls.
  • Supporting the Emirates Foundation’s “Think Science” Expo, where more than 3,000 students learned to design and build science-based innovations and discovered the role STEM plays in the world’s infrastructure.
  • Partnering with our clients and educational institutions on programs, such as the Dow-CH2M Smithsonian Science Education Academy for Teachers.

Throughout Engineers Week, employees from CH2M offices will volunteer as mentors, teachers and judges in a variety of activities, including engineering competitions, technology fairs and classroom presentations to continue inspiring our future workforce.
