Dewberry has received two major awards for the design of the new 10,416-square-foot Glenview Park District Park and Facility Services East building in Illinois.
The firm received a gold medal from the Association of Licensed Architects (ALA) 2016 Design Awards Program, as well as the Outstanding Facility and Park Award from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) for exceptional and unique achievements in design and development.
One of the many goals of this project was to use materials in creative, functional, and sustainable ways. Sustainable measures resulted in significant, cost-effective reductions to energy and water usage The new facility replaces a building that was destroyed in a fire and will house staff and resources that help maintain the community’s parks. One of the design challenges was the sensitive positioning of the building on 2.7 acres of land surrounded by residential neighborhoods. The design uses natural cedar fencing to screen it in from public view.
