Alabama Creates 3D Mapping Tool for Law Enforcement and First Responders

The State of Alabama has created a new mapping system to help law enforcement and first responders during emergencies such as school shootings and natural disasters. Virtual Alabama is a online 3-D mapping tool that provides detailed mapping of land and buildings that can be accessed by first responders during an emergency.

On Thursday, Governor Robert Bentley visited the University of Montevallo where the college announced they will begin using the Virtual Alabama system. They will use the tool to map the entire campus and help manage day-to-day operations.
