HDR’s Jason Magalen Named Young Engineer of the Year by American Society of Civil Engineers in Oregon

Jason Magalen  has been named Young Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers Oregon section. Magalen is a coastal/ocean engineer based in HDR’s Portland, Oregon office. He has been with HDR since 2014.

The award is based on service to the engineering company and ASCE as well as technical competence. Magalen has served the Oregon ASCE section in roles ranging from IT to secretary/treasurer to president and past president. He was one of four speakers at the national conference Leaders’ Forum. His paper on using drones to aid in coastal resilience earned three awards in ASCE’s first Innovation Contest.
