At a great ceremony at the ASLA Conference in New Orleans Monday, Ramboll and Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl officially received two ASLA Professional Awards: One ‘Honor Award’ for the Bishan Ang-Mo Kio Park Project in Singapore (click for description) and one ‘Award of Excellence’ for the concretisation of the Copenhagen Cloudburst Mitigation Plan (click for description).

Selected from 456 entries, the ASLA Awards honour top public, commercial, residential, institutional, planning, communications and research projects on a global scale. Receiving an ASLA Award is hence a great acknowledgement.

“Receiving ASLA Awards for the Copenhagen and Bishan Ang-Mo Kio Park projects shows that we can help our clients with holistic projects that combine landscape architecture, urban design and strong technical competence within water. It is a great honour and I am proud to see our dedicated project teams getting this appreciation,” says Hanne Christensen, Managing Director, Ramboll Water.

Addressing dual needs and improving liveability

In the official motivation texts ASLA highlights the holistic and sustainable aspects of the two Ramboll projects.

According to the Award committee, the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park project ‘provides a new model for tropical urban hydrology through the instrument of landscape infrastructure, addressing Singapore’s dual need for water supply independence and flash flood management while creating access to a thriving riverine ecology within the dense city’.

The Copenhagen project is called ‘a flexible, universally adaptable model for mitigating increasingly common extreme flood events – or Cloudbursts – through Blue-Green solutions that integrate urban planning, traffic, and hydraulic analysis with sound investment strategies to improve the quality of cities’ Liveability’.

Ramboll receives the award for the Copenhagen project together with City of Copenhagen, Greater Copenhagen Utility (HOFOR), Frederiksberg Municipality and Frederiksberg Utility.
