PASADENA, Calif.- Tetra Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTEK) announced today that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has awarded the Company a $29 million, single-award contract to establish improved water supply, sanitation, and hygiene in priority countries within sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Under the five-year Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Partnerships and Learnings for Sustainability project, Tetra Tech will work with USAID’s Global Health Bureau to increase access to clean water and promote improved sanitation behaviors in rural areas.

Nearly one-third of the world’s population—and in particular women and children—lacks access to proper sanitation facilities and clean water resources. Tetra Tech will support USAID and local governments in 24 high-priority countries by providing short-term technical assistance and developing and testing new technologies to address sanitation and water resource issues. Through the use of innovative techniques and operational research activities, Tetra Tech will identify best practices to promote better hygiene behaviors and rural sanitation with the goal of improving access to water resources, services, and infrastructure.

“Tetra Tech has 50 years of thought leadership in the water sector. We provide innovative, sustainable solutions to our clients’ most pressing water and environmental issues,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO. “We are pleased to continue to support USAID’s mission to promote increased access to clean water and improved sanitation in developing countries.”
