ARCADIA, Calif. – IDModeling, Inc. the leading global provider of smart water software and services, announced today the deployment of Smart CIPâ„¢ for integrated, dynamic asset management of water & wastewater systems. Sedaru’s Smart CIP technology provides a lightweight, sophisticated, enjoyable-to-use platform for utilities to connect their data, experience, and institutional knowledge to quantify and prioritize capital improvement projects (CIPs) to consistently measure and increase return-on-investment (ROI).  Sedaru is the industry’s leading smart water operating software, serving as the single source of data to the enterprise, unifying static, silo’d systems, and distributing real-time analytics to the organization for both asset and operational management so utilities can anticipate operations, understand impacts, and solve problems with unprecedented situational awareness from the office to the field.

Sedaru Smart CIP delivers a number of distinct advantages over traditional CIP processes, including and not limited to: interactive stakeholder engagement, risk-based project identification algorithms, map-based results to illuminate recommendations, and leveraged enterprise data – from field maintenance to office-based analysis – for holistic, dynamic prioritization of asset management projects.

Consistent with Sedaru’s approach to smart water solutions, Smart CIP maximizes the data available at utilities today.  With only a GIS data set and/or a hydraulic model, Smart CIP enlightens and significantly advances the CIP identification and selection process. Off-the-shelf features support easy-to-use field data collection for comprehensive day-to-day maintenance of water & wastewater assets, complemented with hydraulic simulations to predict system deficiencies, allowing the utility to support field maintenance workflows and hydraulic system performance immediately, to capture better data more quickly, and leverage this data for quantified, defensible, and insightful planning.  As additional information systems are made available by the utility, Smart CIP leverages the Sedaru operating platform by integrating with 3rd party systems such as existing CMMS, CIS, leak and break events, and more from business systems such as Cityworks, Maximo, and Infor Hansen (Public Sector Software).

Smart CIP unifies and applies previously disconnected data, to identify candidates for rehabilitation or replacement using both Likelihood of Failure (LoF) and Consequence of Failure (CoF).  The software integrates and applies street paving schedules, while evaluating simultaneous multiple criteria to identify ease of, and benefits to construction.  In addition to water systems, Smart CIP is designed for wastewater system planning, fully supporting NASSCO’s Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP) codes so utilities can drive their capital programs directly from their CCTV and other inspection data.  Smart CIP delivers an integrated, transparent planning process, making it easy to build consensus among stakeholders to evaluate, analyze, share and compare asset replacement alternatives to create, interactively modify, and combine CIP alternatives as system status, performance, and priorities change over time.

Sedaru Smart CIP is being deployed to water/wastewater utilities across the United States, including the City of Santa Ana, CA (City).  “We’re very excited about the power and ease-of-use of Smart CIP,” said Rudy Rosas, Senior Civil Engineer with the City. “The information systems we’ve already integrated to the Sedaru platform – including our GIS, hydraulic model, SCADA, production reports, and mobile asset management – are being leveraged to improve our internal communications, collaboration, and insight into smart, data-driven, defensible asset management projects.”

“Smart CIP addresses the historic challenges of facing utilities today, including aging infrastructure, water scarcity, and looming water rate increases, within a platform that advances utility business systems from static, desktop technology to the integrated, analytics-driven, real-time decision support system of the 21st century.  Smart CIP powers informed decision making, identifying the projects with the greatest benefit and ROI to the utility and its ratepayers,” said Kevin Koshko, IDModeling’s Chief Product Officer. “We’ve drawn upon our decades of experience working with utility data sets, hydraulic models, and capital improvement programs to deliver a one-of-a-kind tool that leverages existing data and delivers an extremely high ROI to the utility.”
