The official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) recognises Arup’s concept design on the façade and the careful treatment of natural light for this building.

Designed by Ruiz Pardo & Nebreda Architecture & Engineering, Puma Energy office building in El Salvador is a new 1,550m2 corporate building characterised by its impressive overhang and cross-shaped corridor.

According to the Institute of Architects of Madrid, the building has a “successful combination of clarity and constructive sincerity and the meticulous treatment of natural light.”

Arup worked on the concept and design of the façade and carried out a passive solar protection analysis in order to optimise the entry of natural light into the building.

This analysis, combined with the choice of appropriate solar protection, allowed the architects to shape a continuous glazed façade concept on the inside, supported on the outside by a steel rib sequence with an equal distance between each rib that not only supports the windows, but also acts as an efficient system of sunshades.
