Based in the firm’s Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, headquarters, Rensel specializes in innovative ways for transportation agencies to mitigate congestion by improving roadway operational efficiency. He also provides expertise in traffic management center development and staffing, including policies, protocols, standard operating procedures, training programs, and other operational aspects of the centers. Rensel has helped clients implement traffic incident management and intelligent transportation systems strategies in more than 10 states, for the Federal Highway Administration and overseas in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and for the Qatar Public Works Authority.

Rensel is a leader in the firm’s connected and automated vehicle (CV/AV) working group. He plays a key role in keeping Gannett Fleming clients informed on how CV/AV will impact the transportation industry.

A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Rensel holds a bachelor of science in structural design and construction engineering technology. He is an accomplished presenter and published author in the areas of traffic incident management and traffic technology. A past-president of the Mid-Atlantic Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Rensel currently is the chair of the Transportation Systems Management & Operations Council.
