Julie Sinistore Joins Our Sustainability and Energy Team with Responsibility for Life-Cycle Assessment

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Julie Sinistore has been named project director, sustainability and energy, with responsibility for Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA), for the Environment sector of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization. The Environment sector focuses on critical issues such as greenhouse gas (GHG) and resource management, climate preparedness, the viability of new forms of energy, and mitigates environmental obligations related to legacy sites or facilities.

In her new position, Dr. Sinistore will join with the firm’s sustainability and energy team to support ongoing client engagements focused on using life cycle methods and tools to reduce product environmental impact. This includes conducting LCAs and quantifying environmental impact reductions. Results from LCA will be used in publishing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), communicating improvement opportunities to client management and other internal audiences, and advising client product development on considerations of specific design attributes. Dr. Sinistore will also participate in trade and standards associations relevant to the client’s products.

An experienced consultant, researcher, lecturer, and teacher, Dr. Sinistore has considerable experience in LCA, product design, and the ecological interplay of humans and the environment. Her areas of expertise include data collection and analysis, computer modeling, public speaking, scientific and technical writing, and community outreach. Her professional experience spans many sectors and industries including agriculture, food, electronics, infrastructure and construction, as well as fuels and chemicals from bio-based and conventional sources. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, she was a senior consultant with a global sustainability consulting firm where she advised several Fortune 500 companies on product LCAs.

Dr. Sinistore received a doctorate of philosophy in biological systems engineering and a master of science in agroecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as a bachelor’s of science in natural resource management from Cook College of Rutgers University. She is a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and a board member of the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment.
