Most Influential Person Contributing to the Cause and Implementation of ABC
Michael P. Culmo, vice president, CME
Michael P. Culmo serves as the vice president of CME and has more than 25 years of experience in structural engineering. He’s considered an expert in the field of bridge design and innovative construction strategies. He’s also a nationally recognized expert in Accelerated Bridge Construction practices, authoring numerous papers, articles and manuals in the field of bridge engineering design methods and construction techniques.
Culmo has worked on several high-profile projects, including Massachusetts’s Fast 14 Bridge Replacement, and he has helped several departments of transportation (including Utah, Connecticut and Rhode Island) develop and further pilot projects and standards using accelerated bridge construction methods. He serves on numerous industry committees and groups, including chairing the National Steel Bridge Alliance, the High-Performance Steel Design Advisory Committee for the American Iron and Steel Institute, and the Transportation Research Board.
