Cardno Awarded Five-Year Contract for Marine Corps Facility Assessments Worldwide
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest, has awarded the Cardno-Amec Foster Wheeler Joint Venture a five-year, maximum $30 million firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) architect-engineering contract. The scope is for facility sustainment program support, including building condition assessments of Marine Corps facilities worldwide using the DoD’s BUILDER™ Sustainment Management System (SMS).
The BUILDER™ SMS is a web-based software application developed at the US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Engineering Research Laboratory. It uses information about the condition, functionality, and service life of all facility components (lights, floors, roofing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) to create models for capital and maintenance cost projections from which the DoD can develop short- and long-term plans to manage its budget constraints with sound strategic investments in building assets for sustainment, restoration, and modernization decisions.
Cardno is licensed distributor of BUILDER™ SMS for use in the private sector. To date, Cardno has completed over 250 million square feet of building assessments using the software.
You can find more information about BUILDER™ SMS on the Corps of Engineers website.
