Stephen Willis has joined Stantec in Ottawa as Senior Principal of Community Development.  Stephen comes to Stantec from the National Capital Commission (NCC), where he served as Executive Director in the Capital Planning Branch.

“Stephen is known to be a strategic thinker and a strong leader. He has a wealth of planning experience in the public and private sectors, in Ottawa and across Ontario,” says Peter Moroz, Stantec’s Managing Principal of Community Development.  “Stephen’s ability to resolve challenging issues will be a great complement to our Community Development team and we are very excited to welcome him to Stantec.”

Stephen brings more than 20 years of experience in community development, stakeholder engagement, land use planning and environmental approvals, urban revitalization, and brownfield redevelopment. He specializes in building consensus for complex projects involving approvals from multiple agencies.

“I’m excited to bring my experience to Stantec’s Ontario team and I look forward to being involved in a diverse range of projects,” says Stephen.

During his time at the NCC, Stephen has been involved in many key projects, including overseeing the Lebreton Flats Phase 2 Development proposal, resolving long standing inter-agency agreements on the western light rail transit line, and completing the Capital Urban Lands Master Plan, Capital Military Commemoration Plan and the draft Canada’s Capital 2017-2067 Plan.  Stephen is a Registered Professional Planner and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, and he holds a designation as a Professional Land Economist in Ontario.
