PASADENA, CA  – Parsons will participate in two leading conferences on information security in Las Vegas, NV, next month: Black Hat USA 2016 and DEF CON 24. In its 19th year, Black Hat (July 30–August 4) brings together security professionals from around the globe for 6 days of training, briefings, and demonstrations of the latest cyber-defensive techniques. DEF CON (August 4–7) is the world’s largest hacker conference.

Parsons returns to Black Hat for the 6th year, debuting its smart city presentation, which provides a graphic tour of the critical infrastructures vulnerable to cyber attacks in a smart city. Parsons’ booth, #954, will also feature an oil and gas demo illustrating the potential impact of a cyber attack on a remotely controlled pipeline valve. In addition, Parsons will offer a Capture the Flag hacker challenge, with a prize going to the winner each day.

At DEF CON, Parsons is a sponsor of the second annual Car Hacking Village, one of the most popular attractions at DEF CON 23. Attendees will learn the ins and outs of modern vehicle hacking and have the opportunity to practice their skills with onsite cars.

“Delivering security solutions to our federal, state, and local government, and commercial customers is one of Parsons’ highest priorities,” stated Mary Ann Hopkins, Parsons Group President. “We appreciate the opportunity Black Hat and DEF CON provide to meet with key InfoSec decision-makers and look forward to working with them to address the evolving cyber threat.”
