Recognized for his leadership and successes in airfield pavement design and construction, George Nowak, Hatch’s deputy aviation practice manager, has received the Airfield Pavement Practitioner Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Given by the ASCE Transportation and Development Institute, the award, established in 2009, honors practicing engineers for achievements in the airfield pavement engineering profession.

George has 43 years of experience in developing connected, optimized designs for both new and existing airside projects. He has contributed to airport projects in more than 20 countries and has worked in every province and territory in Canada. George was the engineering design manager on the program management team for the Calgary International Airport Runway Development Project.

“George’s strong relationships within the airports industry and his contributions to the profession have been exemplary,” comments Christopher Solecki, aviation practice lead. “He is regarded as one of the premier airside planners and designers worldwide and consistently demonstrates superlative technical and project management skills leading to strong client partnerships and successfully executed projects.”
