HDR Foundation Earns ARTBA “Helping Hand” Award

May 17, 2016—The HDR Foundation has been named a recipient of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association’s Transportation Development Foundation’s “Helping Hand” Award.
The association gives out the award to organizations within the transportation industry that have exceptional philanthropic programs outside the scope of normal business operations that strengthen, build, improve the quality of life and make a positive difference in communities.
The HDR Foundation, the nonprofit entity of HDR, Inc., was one of four organizations honored recently with the award during an awards luncheon in Washington D.C. in conjunction with ARTBA’s federal issues program. The other organizations were Ranger Construction Industries, KCI Technologies and Transurban. HDR’s East Region Transportation Director Eli Khoury and Strategic Consulting Director D.J. Gribbin accepted the award.
The award took into account the last 18 months. In that time, the HDR Foundation has distributed 16 grants totaling more than $425,640. Each grant recipient is located in a community where HDR employees live and work. Further, those considered for grants are required to have an HDR employee actively volunteering with their organization. The HDR employee writes a letter of recommendation and assists the organization with the application process.
The HDR Foundation is primarily funded through employee donations, with HDR employees contributing nearly $500,000 in 2015.
About the HDR Foundation
The HDR Foundation was founded in 2012 and has provided more than half a million dollars in grants to local organizations — fueled by donations from HDR employees. We provides grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, federally recognized tribal governments, and to political subdivisions. Our giving is targeted to the communities in which our employees live and work, and to organizations where HDR employees are highly active. Grant recipients are also required to align with HDR’s areas of focus, which include education, healthy communities and bettering the environment.
