Spartanburg Country Club Road Corridor Study Named 2016 Project of the Year by FHWA and SCDOT
Stantec received their 2nd award in the past six months for their complete streets planning expertise. The project, Country Club Road Corridor Study in Spartanburg, South Carolina, was recently named 2016 Project of the Year by The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and South Carolina Department of Transportation’s FAST MPO-COG Conference.
The Project of the Year Award is given for an outstanding transportation planning effort that is completed the year prior, and required the use of federal and/or state funds. Toole Design teamed with Stantec to provide a complete streets program that included complex transportation and land use analysis, innovative public outreach strategies, and sensitivity to continued economic viability within the corridor.
Mike Rutkowski, senior transportation engineer and co-chair of Stantec’s complete streets initiative, says of the award, “This is another step forward in our ability to highlight Stantec’s complete streets expertise within our regional communities. This is our second complete streets award we’ve received in the past six months, and I see that as a testament to the high level of talent and passion our team exhibits while helping clients create healthy, vibrant spaces for all transportation modes.”
