Black & Veatch and Chemtex have won a public bid to develop Shanxi Qixian LNG project and will supply the technology package, basic engineering design package, critical equipment and related services to Shanxi Natural Gas Co’s China-based plant.

Black & Veatch and Chemtex have completed more than 22 LNG plants in China. The Shanxi plant will deploy Black & Veatch’s PRICO technology, a single-mixed refrigerant loop for natural gas liquefaction, which aims to cut the equipment count and capital and operating costs.

“The Shanxi plant win allows Black & Veatch to continue contributing to this critical clean fuel sector in China,” said Black & Veatch managing director oil and gas Asia, Rochman Goswami. “The Black & Veatch-Chemtex team has an unrivalled track record and we were able to customise our solution and deliver it to Shanxi Natural Gas Co within a shorter timeline and with a reduced cost.

“This is a compelling competitive advantage given the need for more LNG facilities throughout China. We will continue to enable developers to maximise their investments at a faster rate.”

The plant is due to be completed next year.
