Innovative Workflow Makes Sewer Assessment More Efficient
RANDOLPH, NJ.—While many municipalities believe CCTV crawler inspection is the only way to understand the condition of sewer lines, a new white paper published by Envirosight challenges that assumption. The white paper introduces a new workflow called Phased Assessment Strategy for Sewers (PASS). This workflow can save municipalities time and money while giving them the information they need to properly assess their sewer system’s condition.
The white paper illustrates that municipalities can reduce the cost of performing sewer inspections by 34% and increase productivity by 17% when they adapt the PASS workflow. With PASS, municipalities can prioritize which lines need the most attention, and also keep their system-wide assessment more current. Along with the white paper, Envirosight published an infographic illustrating the PASS workflow and the benefits municipalities can realize with its implementation.
“While CCTV inspection is an essential tool in any condition assessment program, many lines don’t need the level of scrutiny a crawler offers,” says Venay Sehgal Bhatia, Digital Marketing Manager at Envirosight. “Rapid assessment tools like zoom cameras and video nozzles are ideal front-line tools for identifying such lines. By pre-screening lines that don’t need full CCTV inspection, municipalities can save time and money.”
The PASS workflow is divided into three phases:
- Zoom camera survey to sees if the pipes need further attention.
- Video nozzle for post cleaning assessment.
- CCTV crawler only for pipes that need a thorough inspection.
